I remember that Johnny played a mean trumpet in band.

Johnnie had musical talent beyond his years. He played trumpet in the marching, concert, and dance bands. He played a solo in a piece called Festival At Bagdad in Harrisburg at our state concert band competition. Johnnie nailed it and Penn Hills won the state competition. Johnnie was a quit guy in school: he let his horn do the talking. I was saddened to learn of his passing.

What  a good friend and great musician he was. We had  so many fun times in band and on the band trips. I've thought of him many times through the years and am very sad to hear of his departure.
