Lewis M. Niel Jr., 67, of Churchill, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 in Allegheny General Hospital. He was born April 9, 1943, in York, the son of Janet (Herman) Niel and the late Lewis M. Niel Sr. Lewis retired as a police officer for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and served his country in the Air Force.
He loved spending time with his family, gardening, tending to his flowers and being outdoors. In addition to his mother, Lewis is survived by his wife of 11 years, Kathy J. Niel; four children, Cathy McHenry, of Washington, Cindy Brown (Dale), of Apollo, Tracy Niel, of Apollo, and Lewis Niel III (Brenda), of Apollo; five stepchildren; 23 grandchildren; and a sister, Rebecca Niel. In addition to his father, Lewis was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Niel.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in The HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MOON TOWNSHIP, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday.
